The female protagonist, Su Lizhen, is nearly 50 years old and a laid-off worker. She has been drained emotionally and financially by her son’s family, who constantly belittle her. In desperation, she decides to appear on a matchmaking show. However, she is mistaken for a scammer and is kicked off the stage. Devastated, she contemplates suicide but is saved by the CEO Qiu Shusen, who is secretly participating in the show. The two quickly marry.
