Every ten years, the village offers a sacrifice of a young girl to the Shadow Master to protect the community. The Lin sisters, Lin Xue and Lin Yao, marry into the Shadow Manor. While Lin Yao is obsessed with vanity, Lin Xue uncovers the terrifying truth within the manor: the Shadow Master uses forbidden magic to strip skins and refine souls, intending to turn twin siblings into puppets to control everyone in the village. With the help of Liu Ying and the vengeful spirits, Lin Xue kills the Shadow Master on the night of the full moon. However, upon escaping, she discovers that the villagers' hearts are equally terrifying. In the end, she flees with Liu Ying and a map, making a living by performing shadow puppetry.
