Su Ling, the Mighty Phoenix King guarding the border of the Great Xia Empire, falls victim to a treacherous attack by his trusted confidant during a fierce battle against six demonic deities. His senses are sealed, and he is found by Tang Yurou, the heiress of the declining Tang family in Lizhou. For three years, he lives as a simpleton in the Tang household. As the Tang family faces ruin, Tang Long, the patriarch, forces Yurou to marry Chen Yu.
