Shen Zhimeng's biological mother, Chen Shan, is of low status. In order to secure her place as the wife of Jiangcheng's wealthiest man, she swaps her own child for a baby boy. Shen Zhimeng is left to be raised by Li Xiufen, who, driven by greed, plans to abandon the girl in exchange for money. Fortunately, Li Xiufen's father-in-law, Shen Jianrong, takes the baby in and raises her.
