Abandoned as a baby and set adrift in a wooden basin, a newborn girl is rescued by a village woman who takes her in. But her enormous appetite soon becomes more than the family can handle, and she's cast out. Rejected by the entire village, she's eventually taken to the city by a trafficker and ends up working in a wealthy household's kitchen, where an unexpected destiny awaits.
