Elena, the daughter of the Lord of Yalkreon, ventures out in search of sacred tree sap to save her mother from a deadly ice curse. Along the way, she unexpectedly rescues Hades, King of the Underworld, who immediately decides to make her his queen. But Elena is betrayed by her fiancé, then forcibly sold as a sacrifice to the Lord of the Frostlands by her cruel stepmother and greedy father. Just as all hope is lost during the sacrificial ceremony, Hades descends in overwhelming force, punishes everyone who has wronged her, and takes her back to the Underworld under his protection.
