"Clara, a 28-year-old elite mathematics teacher from a prestigious university, has been married for seven years—yet she remains a virgin. Her husband, Gregor, a hypocritical and rigid parliamentarian, adheres to a doctrine of asceticism. He has long subjected Clara to cold violence and domestic abuse, suppressing her natural desires and trapping her in self-loathing and anguish. Though outwardly prim and proper, Clara is secretly mocked by her students.
