Empress of Great Sheng took her children to pay respects at a Buddhist temple, but unexpectedly encountered an assassination attempt. To protect the Empress and the Crown Prince, Princess Yao Yao sacrificed herself and led the assassins away, disappearing without a trace. Year after year, they searched, but to no avail. What the Empress doesn't know is that Yao Yao had already returned to the palace, though the once young princess is now reduced to a lowly maid. The malicious female antagonist, Chu Mingzhu, constantly hinders and schemes against them, pushing the mother and daughter further apart. It isn't until Yao Yao is forced into a political marriage that the Empress learns the truth. But it's too late — the treasure they've been searching for has already been irreparably harmed.
