炎上する教会を後に、修道女、老司祭、そして若い司祭が狭い馬車で脱出する。聖具で埋め尽くされた車内で、修道女は若い司祭の膝の上に座らざるを得ない。悪路を進む馬車の揺れは、一枚の毛布の下で信仰と欲望の境界を曖昧にしていく。前席の老司祭は、後ろの罪に気づくこともなく、ただ鼻歌を口ずさんでいた。
