The Empress of Lingzhou falls into a coma due to a hidden illness, causing her to age rapidly. Meanwhile, a diplomatic envoy from the Ba Kingdom is arriving in three days. Though presented as a visit, the real purpose is to confirm the Empress's condition, as the spies have already informed them of her coma, and they plan to invade Lingzhou. The governor of Lingzhou, Yang Lele, urgently seeks a miracle doctor. However, the heir to the top medical family in Lingzhou, the Xiao family, Xiao Yan, is desperately saving money to marry his fiancée, Liu Qingqing. To his shock, Liu Qingqing is having an affair with Zhang Yuntian and, in an attempt to kill Xiao Yan, exposes his secret, claiming that Xiao Yan can cure the Empress. Xiao Yan, both frightened and helpless, has abandoned his medical skills to become a dairy farmer and knows nothing about healing. Realizing that failing to cure the Empress means certain death, he feeds her a mouthful of milk in desperation.
