After ten years away, Yang Guang returns home successful, hoping to bring his sister Yang Dahua and wife Manni to the city. He learns of Yang Dahua's death upon arrival. Hearing his sister's voice and noticing Erwa's strange behavior, Yang Guang defies Manni and opens the coffin publicly.
