Carynn Hughes was always the black sheep of her family. Her father did not like her, her stepmother was cruel, and her stepsister seduced her fiancee, Archiebald Murray. After a chance encounter with the powerful Jayden Lewis and his ill grandfather on the same day, she was given the opportunity to start a new life. Although her parents blamed her for Archiebald’s affair with her stepsister, Carynn manages to turn them into the town’s laughingstock during their engagement.
