Synopsis

In a breathtaking twist, Zhou Mi finds herself transported to 1986, where she's reincarnated as a vulnerable foster child exploited by unscrupulous relatives. The twist deepens as she learns that her biological sister, Zhou Qing, had been betrothed to the Jiang family, but the Zhou family, disdainful of Jiang's modest wealth and burdened by a paralyzed mother-in-law, enforced Zhou Mi to break up with her boyfriend and marry into the Jiang family instead. Defiant to the last, Zhou Mi takes her own life by jumping into a river, only to be replaced by the modern Zhou Mi's soul. The Zhou family is horrified, especially Zhou Qing, who had cunningly stolen Zhou Mi's boyfriend Shi Yang in hopes of marrying into his wealthy family and escaping her engagement to the Jiangs. Trapped by their greed for the Jiang family's betrothal gifts, the Zhou family continues to pressure Zhou Mi into marriage. Arriving at the Jiangs' by hitchhiking, Zhou Mi discovers that the despised Jiang Chang'an, the son.
