Shen Rong's mother-in-law, Zhao Lan, needs heart surgery, and only her son, Zhou Shengyu, can perform it. However, Zhou Shengyu ignores her, choosing instead to be with his first love, Yi Xiaowan. As a result, Zhao Lan misses the critical window for treatment and dies with regret. Before passing, she entrusts her final wishes to Shen Rong, who is left heartbroken by the loss of a motherly figure.
