At twenty-four, Cary West is forced to marry a stranger in a remote village to replace her sister, Katy, who is favored by their father. To her shock, her husband, Simon Zimmer, turns out to be the richest man in Oceana, and her mother-in-law, Muse Keller, showers her with care. However, Katy and her husband, Howard Gibson, continue to bully Cary and her family.
