Psyche falls in love with Eros, the God of Love, and bears his child. Aphrodite, Eros’s jealous mother, forges a prophecy that Psyche will die in childbirth. To protect Eros, Psyche feigns betrayal with his best friend Zephyrus, breaking Eros‘s heart. Six years later, Eros returns to find Psyche a lone temple mender raising their son Voluptas. As lies unravel, Psyche’s “curse” is revealed as Aphrodite‘s poison. Truth triumphs: Aphrodite is punished, and the family is reunited.
