Grace Winter, a celebrated young novelist, sees her career ruined when her husband and editor, Jonathan Gray, steals her manuscripts and exploits emerging writers. After exposing his misconduct and facing backlash, she retreats to Cranberry Harbour, Maine. There, she uses a vintage 1940s Underwood typewriter to document local lives and uncovers decades of illegal fishing, labor abuse, and pollution by the Blake Fishery Company. Teaming up with townspeople, a whistleblower, and an investigative journalist, she fights corporate power through storytelling, helps the community reclaim their livelihoods, and builds a public library. Later, she mentors Sophie, Jonathan’s unknown daughter, teaching her that true writing comes from listening, not theft. The series explores justice, redemption, and the enduring power of words.
