Norah Chen, a 33-year-old marine engineer, met Derek Sterling, a former deep-sea mining executive, at the Ocean Technology Summit, where they designed the "DeepDiver II" submersible. During their honeymoon dive, Derek attempted to kill Norah by sabotaging the submersible.
