Seven years ago, on a stormy night, Shen Yu gave birth to twins for the Shi family. In the delivery room, she was forcibly drained of blood to save the Shi family’s eldest grandson, Shi Nanfeng. By the time her husband, Shi Lü, arrived, all he saw was a lifeless body covered with a white sheet and a bloodstained amulet. Seven years later, Shen Yu, now voiceless and amnesiac, survives by scavenging while raising her daughter, Xiao Guai. Fate intervenes when Xiao Guai becomes Shi Nanfeng’s classmate. A school essay titled “My Mom” sparks conflict, and Shen Yu, in order to protect her daughter, leaps from a building and is gravely injured. Kneeling before hospital director Shi Lü, Xiao Guai cries, “Uncle, please, save my mom!” Looking at the tear-streaked face of the child, Shi Lü is struck by a wave of doubt and confusion.
