Zhang Xiumei, a woman who worked tirelessly her entire life, spent her later years living at her son Li Hua’s home, caring for her daughter-in-law Wang Haiyan and grandson Guoguo. However, as she developed Alzheimer’s disease, and under the weight of her daughter-in-law’s complaints and her son’s financial stress, she was sent to live with her youngest sister, Li Yue. There, during an episode of her illness, she unknowingly ate fruits given to her daughter by her boyfriend and was harshly scolded for it. Hiding the conflict, Zhang Xiumei quietly left and turned to her eldest daughter Li Yan. As she delivered meals every day, her condition worsened until she went missing.
