John Sullivan faked his disappearance in a skiing accident to escape his marriage for three months. His wife Wennie Castillo exhausted every effort searching for him, only to spot him partying wildly with his "girl best friend" Nancy Shawn at a bar. Worse, she overheard him boast that he would reveal himself only after she had completely broken down.​ Heartbroken but resolute, Wennie did not confront him on the spot. Instead, she canceled John's legal identity records, announced his death to all relatives and friends, and organized an official funeral. During preparations, she discovered John had repeatedly brought Nancy back to their marital home to cheat.
