When the truth finally comes to light and Fu Heng desperately seeks Tan Haoyue's forgiveness, he discovers that her suicide attempt was real. Although Tan Haoyue was saved, it was too late—she is now only being kept alive by medication, living out her final moments. The story ends with Fu Heng holding Tan Haoyue's lifeless body, condemned to a lifetime of regret.
