Forensic anthropologist Vera discovers her husband Ian takes bribes to falsify autopsy results and cover up Sarah's murder. She secretly saves proof, moves overseas with her kids under the pretense of training, and anonymously exposes the crime using cranial‑reconstruction expertise. She testifies in court, gets Ian suspended, and teams up with the FBI to take down a forensic fraud ring. Ian goes to jail, and the truth of Sarah's death comes out. Vera builds an international support group for mistreated women in forensics. Ian dies soon after prison release. Her daughter Emma becomes a forensic pathologist. Vera lives out her old age peacefully by the sea and dies at 92. Emma carries on her mother's mission through books, honoring the belief:"bones don't lie, truth is paramount.”
