Grace, an experienced teacher with seventeen years of service, was unfairly fired by her husband, the school principal, and their marriage fell apart as a result. Struggling with unemployment, she opened a free classroom in her spare garage to take in troubled kids rejected by regular schools, including underachievers and children with special needs. Teaching students in accordance with their individual talents, she helped a quiet autistic boy start speaking, a hyperactive kid realize his dream of writing, and a troubled youngster turn over a new leaf. Her small classroom gradually gained donations from kind-hearted donors. Her remorseful ex-husband later begged for reconciliation, only to be gently turned down. Eventually, the garage-based Second Classroom was officially recognized as an innovative education model. All those once overlooked children went on to live fulfilling lives, as Grace’s devotion lit up countless young lives.
