Three years after a mysterious purple fog turns half of humanity into zombies, survivor Jack awakens a powerful Zombie Synthesis System. When he discovers that his beloved younger sister Mia has also been infected, he refuses to kill her and instead vows to evolve her until she regains her memories. As Jack hunts zombies, unlocks supernatural abilities, and rescues his former crush Fiona—now a fire-wielding mutant zombie—he becomes caught in the battle for Salix, a survivor city threatened by corrupt rulers and an overwhelming zombie horde. After defeating two A-rank monsters and saving the city, Jack rejects the chance to become its new leader and sets out once again, determined to restore the two girls he refuses to abandon.
