The male lead, Chu Yang, who comes from the modern world, is mistakenly summoned by Su Daji from a parallel universe. She uses a magical artifact called the Spirit Record, thinking he is the remaining soul of King Zhou. To return to the modern world, Chu Yang strikes a deal with Su Daji, using the Spirit Record's ability to summon historical figures. He pretends to be the emperor of the Great Chu Dynasty and leads the already crumbling kingdom to its downfall. To do this, Chu Yang intentionally summons Confucius, Du Fu, and various warlords to battle, but by coincidence, he wins three consecutive matches. Later, angered by the warlords sacrificing the common people and recruiting the Warrior Saint of the Wokou as an ally for victory, he calls upon the warrior Lü Bu to defeat them. This earns him the title of a mighty ruler in the eyes of the court, prompting Jin Wang, who plans to rebel and claim the throne, to take extra caution and plot against Chu Yang.
